The Colwell Spirit Scholarship is a program, administered by the Delaware National Guard Youth Foundation, created in honor of Camp Colwell’s founder, Ernie Colwell. 

With Ernie’s relentless dedication and determination, the true spirit of Camp impacted hundreds of Guard youth over decades and encouraged them to lead by example, be a part of a team, and develop extraordinary character within themselves. The Colwell Spirit Scholarship is meant to recognize our Guard Youth who demonstrate teamwork and distinguished character in their daily life and whose hard work and drive is evident by others, just like we all saw in Ernie Colwell.

The scholarship will be awarded to an individual who carries the same excitement that the “spirit stick” stands for. The individual should be one who encourages others to embrace skills of teamwork and high character.
